17/10/10 Sunshine at last!

Wow it's been so cold lately and at last we got sun! I was straight down to the front paddock for mice although I ended up finding a sunny spot to nap in.

Dad was doing something in a pile of dirt (he calls it top soil?) and both dogs, Bethany and Poppy came to help and then so did Howard and then even Arch the cockeral came too. They all hung out in the paddock with me for ages and we all played chase and tag and it was great. Why can't the sun shine more often?

Nervous Dave got reserved today by a really nice lady who'd seen our Pussy of the Week in the Diss Express. Naughty Brian was last week's star but no one's shown any interest at all - I guess that's what happens when you bite people!

16/10/10 No ranting today!

I couldn't help yesterday's rant. I owed it to Timothy.

But today let's have some cuteness! At the end of September I told you about some kittens the police brought in but I'm not allowed to show you pictures of the polices.

Well I worked out how to edit it so you can't tell which police it is and hopefully they won't arrest me for it...

Cute huh?

15/10/10 Not fair for Timothy

So bad news for Timothy, it sounds like he had a harsh decision made by the vets and for what reason I do not know. I listened to the whole story as his owner sobbed in reception.

The vet hadn't looked at him at all the night he was taken into them and hadn't even been given pain relief. He had been left in the tiny carrier he had been caught in all night. I just hope desperately that they had found a way to at least give him water in the carrier although it was so small I'm not sure how they could have. He wasn't sedated to be examined until late the next morning when a decision was made that he should be euthanased.

I just don't understand who could put a cat through that? For all that time he must have been terrified and then to be killed at the end of it? I am so sad for him.

The decision to euthanase was based on them not being able to think of a way to medicate him. From what I can work out it means that if Timothy had been taken to an experienced vet he would still be alive this evening. I just want to rant and rant but it won't save Timothy.

14/10/10 Scully stakes her claim

A lady called Melanie turned up to volunteer today and brought a huge box of goodies with her. Food and cleaning bits and all sorts off our wishlist. When mum and dad got home we went over to feed the kitties and Scully was sitting proudly amongst it all and reckoned it was all hers!

There was quite a fight to persuade her to return to her usual box and get the goodies put away!

Also we heard news that Timothy, the cat they had spent so long catching last night, was put to sleep today. I haven't heard any more than that but his mum will pop in and tell us when she returns the cage tomorrow. Poor Timothy.

13/10/10 Straw hair

Mum and dad have spent ages this evening struggling round a garage/stable/shed with a poorly feral cat. Apparently Timothy hid so well that for over half an hour they thought he must have escaped from the locked room.

They eventually found him cowering in a cobwebby and dark corner behind some wood but it sounded like he gave them quite the run around! They both came back covered in cobwebs and straw!

He had alot of dribble from his mouth and his owner was whizzing him straight off to the vets to get seen. Obviously a vet will struggle to handle him easily and it's likely he will need sedating while they work out how to approach his diagnosis and treatment.

It must be fun to work with feral cats as a vet because they test your knowledge and improvising skills. Working out how to get medication into a cat who cannot be handled and isn't eating can be tough but a good vet will be up for the challenge!

Let's hope now he's been caught that Timothy makes a swift recovery.
