Hi,

I'm sorry I have been so long writing, but you know how it is time flies.

When I left you I wondered where I was going being put back in that cage. I was scared. Very scared but I kept quiet until I reached my new home. They put me down in the kitchen and opened the front of the cage. Wow! I've moved to a mansion. The rooms are huge, I've got toys ,my own sofa, roast beef for dinner. It's wonderful.

I tried to be good but the first week I did break a few things. I thought it was curtains but they didn’t seem to mind. I stayed in for 3 weeks and then I was allowed to go in the garden. I was scared at first but so excited, there are huge apple trees, lots of bushes and flower beds to investigate.

A few weeks later I had a mishap. I popped over to see Eric next door in his workshop. It's a fascinating place with all sorts of wood and tools to explore. I was having a lovely time nosing around when I realised Eric was gone and I was shut in. Oh well I thought he never goes out for long I'll just settle down and wait. But the hours went by and I could hear people walking up and down on the gravel outside, and then I heard them calling for me, but they didn’t seem to hear me. Time was getting on it was starting to get dark. Where could Eric be all day? I'm afraid I had no option but to do my business on the floor. It was very embarrassing for a cat of my breeding. But I did manage to cover it up with sawdust. Eventually when I thought all was lost Eric came home and opened the door. I ran so fast for home, and everyone gave me lots of cuddles.

A few days later you’ll never guess what I found. A Swimming Pool, and just next door. It was a lovely day so without further ado in I jumped. It was magic. I'm a regular visitor now, and when I come home I get dried with my own towel. I don't really need it being a Bengal but it's rather nice.

I have now settled to a routine. I go out early in the morning until twelve then have a light lunch and a sleep in my armchair. In the afternoon I make sure no other cats are in my garden, have some fun with the birds and explore until I'm called in. Then it’s Bill Oddie on the TV and lots of pampering. So you see I'm the luckiest cat alive.

Thank you for looking after me so well and finding me a wonderful home. I'll never forget you.

LOVE & KISSES. Prince Boris.

PS. My new name since all the press coverage on Bengals.

Jacob's story

We had 2 cats for about 10 years, but unfortunately our older one (Minty) had to be put to sleep in the summer. Minty and our dog Mitch (also from a re-homing centre) were best of friends and when the cat died, the dog even went walking down the road looking for him a few times! So...

We found a leaflet for Feline Care and decided to look around to consider getting another cat in the future. We wanted to get an older cat, and the centre was really nice and friendly, and we saw a number of cats we liked. We went back the following week, and picked Jacob as he was known as ‘Granddad’ (even though he is only 6!) because he was friendly and considerate to the other cats. Molly told us that he came to the home covered in abscesses from when he was bullied by other cats, and they were unsure whether he would survive. Happily he did, and you would never guess he had been through that by looking at him, as he has such a full and glossy coat.

After the home visit, we collected him the following week, although this was trickier than expected because he was a little(!) overweight and only just squeezed into the travel box!

He now lives in our conservatory, as he is still a little nervous but ventures into the rest of the house when he is feeling brave. He seems very happy and rubs around all the furniture and any person who comes close enough! He rubs with such force that we are sure it must hurt his head. He enjoys sitting on the back of the sofa starring out at the world, but mostly enjoys sleeping for hours, waking for the occasional snack.

After our visits to Feline Care and meeting the team we have become volunteers and try to help out when we can.

Jess' story

We had been thinking about getting a cat for a very long time and had spotted a sign for an open day at Feline Care whilst we were out one day. We went to the open day and were very impressed with what we saw and decided a rescue cat would be the right way to go. We finally went to choose our cat in October of 2006. We were taken to a room with many other cats and Jess, whom we choose, stood out from the rest. She was described as being very friendly and chatty and boy did she chat on the way home!

She has now been with us for 9 months and has settled in extremely well as she has both of us wrapped around her little finger! She loves attention and will gently tap you with her paw to make sure she gets it! She is extremely chatty especially when you have been out somewhere and come back home and she now runs the street and keeps the other cats on their toes!

We definitely would not be without her now and would like to thank Feline care for everything they have done for us. We hope they keep continuing to do the fantastic work they are doing.

Hello - We've written a few words below, the little madam had to have her say too!

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH FELINE CARE -

On our 1st visit to Feline Care we joined a group of people & Molly for a tour. As we went into the 1st room of cats, we were introduced to all the cats, Tabitha was introduced as being 'selectively friendly' She ran straight over to me and jumped onto my lap the minute I crouched down to stroke her. She immediately caught our attention. She was beautiful, she looked like a queen. Almost like a completely different class of cat! After seeing all the cats we left and moved on to another cats home. We spent a week searching but although we had initially said we wanted a very young cat, neither of us could get Tabitha out of our minds. Eventually (1 week later) we decided that we would go back to Feline care and see if Tabitha was still there. Molly had said that someone was interested in her so we were really nervous. When we arrived on the Sunday Morning we went into Tabitha's room where she greeted us with a little 'meow' - more like a mouse than a cat!, we stayed with her for a while - grooming and playing with her. After deciding that she was 'purrrrfect' we told Molly that we wanted her to join our family and they promptly organised the Home check and tabitha came home the following week. Everyone at Feline care was so friendly and knowledgable. All the rooms were clean and all the cats were friendly. Feline care set a standard which no other home really met. Some homes we visited we were so shocked by we hardly even stayed for 5 minutes!

Princess Tabitha's Comments!

Hello Everyone,

I thought Id drop you all a qick note to say Hello. Im living in the lap of luxury, sorry I didnt take any of you with me but Mummy & Daddy have said as soon as we move and get a bigger garden to play in we will come back and see if any of you want to come and live with us. Mitzi & I are always playing tricks on Mummy, as soon as she wants to go out we make sure we run out into the garden, as soon as she gets us both inside one of us runs out again - Its really funny! I also like to wind daddy up by walking out onto the Bedroom window sill, jumping down onto the porch and going to play on the green. He gets more wound up when I push the back bedroom window open and climb out onto the window sill there - Im only sunbathing but he always picks my up and brings me inside again - He cant help it, He loves me! But then who doesnt!!! I have lots of new friends here too. Mitzi is very funny, she is a bit mad & forgets when weve been fed & then Meows, Pumpkin is the cat next door - he fancies me & Mitzi but Ive told him I'm WAY out of his league. I dont mind teasing him though - I go and have a cuddle with his mummy on her sofa sometimes! Weve got a gate in the fence at the bottom of the garden (behind the shed) we sneak through and go to play in each others gardens. Its quite fun actually. Flo' over the road had kittens a few weeks ago - they are great fun to play with too.

Generally I spend my time lazing around and being cuddled. I didnt like cuddles so much when I got here but they're Addictive!!! My favourite thing now is to finish my dinner of biscuits and meat and then have a cuddle with Mummy & Daddy. I like laying between them in bed too, on my back having my tummy rubbed! Its lovely here. Everyone loves me, even my new people friends Kye (aged 4), Gracie (aged 2) & Lilla (aged 3) they are great coz they have to be really gentle when they stroke me and they sit really still for me to get on their laps so I can get extra comfy!

Im sure I will speak to you all again soon. Miss you all lots - Wish you were here!!!

Wallace, as old as the hills, had resided at Feline Care for many years before finding a new home for his last few weeks of life. Nearly two years later he sadly passed away in June, 2008.
