Strokes

Strokes

Precious Strokes must have used up all her lives by now!

She was a full feral when she had her first stroke and it took a tense twenty minutes to catch her, though staggering, and get her to our vet. Every second is crucial for a victim of stroke because, as with humans, immediate medical treatment can reduce permanent neurological damage.

Her condition was bad and she needed days of round the clock nursing. We were aware that euthanasia may have to be an option due to her poor quality of life but it was worth giving her time to see if she could pull through.

Gradually her balance returned and she fought her way back to almost full fitness. She has suffered another two strokes since and thankfully, with speedy treatment and supportive aftercare, she has made a good recovery each time.

With all the special care she soon became very appreciative of a fuss and now she demands strokes off everyone she meets!
