Arnie, Billy & Bradley

August 2009:
"Well the ginger boys have been with us just over one month now and they rule the roost. Arnie, Billy and Bradley have kept their original names. You wouldn't want your name changed just because someone made you move house would you?
Upon arriving home from Feline Care, Arnie and Billy took things in their stride and explored the house. Poor Bradley was panting and scared. He hid under the nearest bed for over an hour but eventually appeared with eyes the size of dinner plates, sniffing everything. By the first supper time all was well with the entire ginger gang. The kitchen was swarming with three cats, tails held high, meowing and getting under your feet.
Cats do have nocturnal habits and without installing CCTV, one ginger culprit has taken to raiding the kitchen bin and leaving bits on the floor.
Outdoors has been a great adventure but we were nervous of letting the cats out. Arnie left the garden first by climbing the birch tree and dropping over the neighbour's fence. They all discovered a gap in the fence that leads to some rough scrubland so we didn't see the ginger gang for over an hour.
They are all obsessed with hunting whatever moves and as a lifelong birder my garden attracts many feathered creatures. Ginger boys lurk behind bushes, under trees and rush from behind hedges but mercifully without success so far.
We previously had 4 cats and had just lost the last one, Funcat, who was 20 years old. My daughter's work experience placement at Feline Care made us think that rehoming older cats was the route for us. Missing their kittenhood is not going to change how we feel about them. The photo album has started and the memories are already building. The ginger boys have arrived!!!"
