Lucky Alex!

We recieved a call this morning from a supporter in Thetford who's friend didn't know what to do about a cat stuck in a tree behind her house. They had contacted the RSPCA the previous day and spoken to the emergency services for advice but still the ginger cat was stuck and crying pitifully for help. When we arrived at the scene a desperate meow from 30ft above greeted us and we could see that specialist climbing equipment would be needed. Someone had spotted tree surgeons working a few streets away so off we went to beg for their skills and kindness. Shaun and Alex, though disbelieving at first, followed us back to the tree and couldn't help but laugh at the turn their day was taking! Alex immediately prepared to climb and with full safety equipment soon ascended the tree, far higher than their longest ladder. The poor ginger boy was so relieved to be face to face with a human at last and he couldn't wait for a stroke! The growing crowd watched as a carrier was hoisted up and secured and the little chap was easily boxed up for his descent. After being lowered slowly to the ground we decided to name the youngster Alex after his heroic ginger haired rescuer! Sadly if he had been wearing a collar or been microchipped he could have been returned immediately to his owners. Feline Alex has now had a check up with our vet, Paul Jarman, and is being treated for mild exposure but he has still been undoubtedly a very, very lucky little boy. We hope Alex's owners come forward as we are sure they must be missing him. We do have concerns that as he had been stuck for so long and is unneutered and un-microchipped that he may not have loving or caring owners waiting for him anywhere. If that is the case then we are sure there will be no shortage of offers to love him! Shaun & Alex of Danarbor LtdShaun & Alex of Danarbor Ltd
