Cats for homing

These are some of our cats currently waiting to be rehomed:

Thumbnail photo of Brucey
  • Name: Brucey.
  • Age: 10+.
  • Gender: Male.

Brucey would like to find a home with a keen gardener as he loves to be out in the fresh air whenever the weather allows.

He can be unpredictable so should not be homed with children and would like to be an only cat.

Thumbnail photo of Tessa
  • Name: Tessa.
  • Age: 18+.
  • Gender: Female.

Tessa is a magnificent little cat! Although she is our oldest lady our vet is absolutely amazed at her wonderful condition. She is a quiet cat who enjoys her sleep and would love to share your sofa! She would like to be an 'only cat' as she can be quite mean to other cats entering her personal space.

Thumbnail photo of Mandy
  • Name: Mandy.
  • Age: 7 yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Mandy's owner recently passed away leaving her with nowhere to go. She is very scared so please excuse the sad picture of her!

She is not used to being handled although we are trying hard to show her how nice a fuss can be! So far she has shown us no aggression and has appreciated the attention but she is still very nervous in her new surroundings.

Mandy will need a quiet home where she can be left to pose beautifully on a windowsill rather than be fussed over.

Thumbnail photo of Poppy & Alfie
  • Name: Poppy & Alfie.
  • Age: 2 yrs.
  • Gender: Female & Male.

Poppy and Alfie are a soppy pair who were given up because their owner suddenly became allergic to them.

They are both very affectionate but Alfie is certainly the more confident of the pair.

They adore each other so must be homed together!

Thumbnail photo of Co Co
  • Name: Co Co.
  • Age: 10+ yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Co Co is a dignified old lady who was absolutely miserable living with a young child.

She will require daily grooming (which she allows!) because her stunning coat is very long and thick.

After her ordeal she would most certainly not like to be homed with children or dogs although she gets on well with other cats.

Thumbnail photo of Smarty
  • Name: Smarty.
  • Age: 17+ yrs.
  • Gender: Male.

Being a golden oldie and having lived at Feline Care for several years it's about time someone gave Smarty a chance. He has a bad habit of marking his territory and will spray indoors given the opportunity which may well be what puts people off about him! He also hates (and will fight against!) being brushed so needs clipping at the vets twice a year. But he loves a lap and just being in the company of people makes him purr. He may have 'problems' but we all think he's purrfect!

Thumbnail photo of Jacky
  • Name: Jacky.
  • Age: 12+.
  • Gender: Female.

We admitted Jacky as a stray because her home was being demolished. She has been used to relying on a local worker for food for over 10 years so has grown used to humans.

We expected the move would be terifying for her but she settled immediately! She is always desperate for fuss although she isn't keen on being picked up.

She can be a bit of a bully to other cats but that is understandable after fending for herself for so many years.

Thumbnail photo of Mouse
  • Name: Mouse.
  • Age: 8+yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Mouse came here with her brother Badger after their owner had to move home.

They have settled in well and are incredibly friendly with people but naughty Mouse is very bossy with other cats so now must be homed as an only cat.

Thumbnail photo of Willow
  • Name: Willow.
  • Age: 17+.
  • Gender: Female.

Willow is a very quiet little old lady who has been overlooked because she never asks for a fuss even though she loves a cuddle!

Sadly Willow has had her thyroid removed so is officially on 'borrowed time' but we would love to see her find a sofa and a companion for whatever time she may have left. She is not on any medication and her only bad habit is occasionally missing the litter tray when she pees!

Please excuse Willow's bad hair day in the picture! We occaisionally have to clip patches of her fur as she mats very easily because she no longer grooms herself at all.

Thumbnail photo of Snowy
  • Name: Snowy.
  • Age: 5+.
  • Gender: Male.

Snowy is a huge polar bear of a cat!

He had been stray on a housing estate for many months before his guardian angel called us to find him a home. He was bedraggled, full of fleas and very grubby on arrival and couldn't believe his luck!

Snowy plays like a giant kitten, he especially loves bouncy balls, and loves a fuss.

He can't be homed with other cats due to aggression but is fine with dogs.

PLEASE NOTE: Snowy has been out to a home already although sadly he was returned as he scratched their carpet. He was trying to dig into their bedroom while they were asleep so we would suggest he is allowed to share your bed to save your carpets!

Thumbnail photo of Kittens
  • Name: Kittens.
  • Age: various.
  • Gender: M / F.

We have several litters of kittens, some of which are ready to go now, others in weeks to come.

If you wish to meet our kittens you will to arrange an appoinment as too many visitors can overwhelm them and their protective mothers.

Thumbnail photo of Wally
  • Name: Wally.
  • Age: 2yrs.
  • Gender: Male.

Wally, a young feral tom, was admitted as an emergency one night as he had apparently been hit by a car and could not walk.

X-rays revealed his injuries were much worse as he had sustained a shattered pelvis. Extreme muscle wastage to his legs meant the injury was also not recent. We are keeping our fingers crossed he will not need major surgery although early signs are good and he is now able to stand.

Though feral Wally is now starting to accept a stroke and occaisionally purrs for us! We hope to domesticate him further as he will find an easier life if he learns the benefits of humans!

Thumbnail photo of Wilfy
  • Name: Wilfy.
  • Age: 21+.
  • Gender: Male.

Wilfy is a remarkable elderly gentleman who certainly doesn't deserve to be without a home after making it this far in life!

He has a thyoid condition which means he needs medication twice a day but he eats this easily hidden in tuna!

He isn't very keen on other cats and isn't afraid to stand his ground but loves people, fuss and company.

Thumbnail photo of Bella
  • Name: Bella.
  • Age: 1+yr.
  • Gender: Female.

Bella was found in a cemetery as a kitten and after a year her owner had to give her up. She has been kept as an indoor cat but obviously as she is still young it would be fairer to introduce her to the world!

She is timid but very curious and loves a fuss so once settled we're sure she would find confidence.

She has been used to children and dogs although we have not yet seen her with either.

Thumbnail photo of Elise
  • Name: Elise.
  • Age: 2+yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Elise is a very special girl and needs a very special home.

She is totally deaf and will need someone to offer her a secure indoor home so she is safe from dangers she cannot hear coming such as cars or dogs.

She would benefit from living with someone who is at home alot as it will take time to learn how to communicate with each other without sound.

Thumbnail photo of Joan
  • Name: Joan.
  • Age: Old.
  • Gender: Female.

Joan is one of our 'reception cats' and she sees herself as queen of all around her.

She is known for tapping newcomers on the leg to request attention and everyone thinks she's lovely. However, if you stroke her in the wrong place she smacks you and swears! She is very bossy and bad tempered and stomps about smacking people, cats and dogs who cross her path!

Joan's endearing quality is that she cannot hurt you when she bites as she has no teeth. Bless her!

(Please don't think we're being mean about Joan behind her back. We just thought it was better to be honest!)

Thumbnail photo of Pinky Jess
  • Name: Pinky Jess.
  • Age: 8+.
  • Gender: Female.

Pinky is a bossy boots who swears away whenever cats come near her. She adores human company though and would make an ideal only cat in a household.

Thumbnail photo of Badger
  • Name: Badger.
  • Age: 8+ yrs.
  • Gender: Male.

Badger arrived here with his sister, Mouse, but as soon as they moved into our communal area it became clear that Mouse is a bully to him and he's actually quite wary of her.

Aside from being so gentle that he gets bullied Badger is a gorgeous, soppy boy who can't get enough fuss!

He is a very sociable cat with humans and cats but hasn't been tested with dogs yet. We're crossing our fingers that he won't get overlooked for homing because he is black...

Hide detail

Thumbnail photo of Lawn
  • Name: Lawn.
  • Age: 3+ yrs.
  • Gender: Male.

Lawn is another sad old stray with no history.

As you may notice in his picture he has problems with swelling round his eyes which we are trying to find the route of. It may be simply an allergy although to what we don't know yet.

Of course we don't want his health to hold up his homing so we hope someone will fall for his charms and take on his treatment.

Lawn is a bold and friendly man who falls over himself for your affection!

He is aggressive to dogs so must not be homed with one.

Thumbnail photo of Teddy & Tabitha
  • Name: Teddy & Tabitha.
  • Age: 6+ months.
  • Gender: Female.

Teddy and Tabitha have been passed from home to home in their short lives and desperately deserve to settle down somewhere for the rest of their lives.

Because of their difficult start they are a little nervous but are both growing more confident and love playing!

[Please excuse the bad photo but it was play time and they wouldn't keep still for a second! Teddy is all black and Tabitha is a brindle tortoiseshell. They both have semi-long hair.]

Thumbnail photo of Charlie
  • Name: Charlie.
  • Age: 14+yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Charlie's owner adored her and did everything he could to keep her but sadly, due to work commitments, he was forced to give her up.

She didn't understand the move (as she has been such a spoilt princess her whole life!) but has reluctantly settled in very well here! She likes to think she is in charge and is always first to the door to greet us with her chatter.

It is hard to believe her advanced years as she still loves a game and is full of energy! She would love to find a new home where she can follow her person around and curl up on a lap!

Hide detail

Thumbnail photo of Fleur
  • Name: Fleur.
  • Age: 1+yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Fleur still has her three kittens with her at the moment but will be ready for a home very soon.

She was caught as a feral cat with her kittens as she had given birth in someone's garden. Within half an hour of arriving she remembered her domestic roots and lapped up a meal and a fuss!

She has never shown us any aggression and is full of love. She must have had it very tough since she was dumped (or maybe she ran away from a bad home?) and she certainly knows she has fallen on her paws here.

Imagine how happy she will be to curl up on your sofa!

Thumbnail photo of Twix
  • Name: Twix.
  • Age: 2 yrs.
  • Gender: Female.

Twix has been our super-mum this kitten season!

She arrived after being thrown out for being heavily pregnant and immediately showed flu symptoms. We then had a very worrying few weeks waiting to see if her kits would pull through.

Pull through they certainly did and all were swiftly homed before Twix took on another four orphaned kittens! She gave them plenty of love and a firm paw as needed before they too were also homed.

We hoped then to move her into a homing area but sadly she pined so badly that our only choice was to give her six more fuly weaned kittens to care for!

We think it's high time Twix was homed somewhere she will be pampered as much as she deserves after loving so many kittens!

Information for potential owners

Thank you for considering adopting your pet from a Rescue Centre.

When you visit the Centre we will show you the cats or kittens we think are suitable for you, your home and your lifestyle based on the information you give us. It is essential to us that we match cats to their owners to the best of our ability as we only want the very best for our moggies!

Taking on a new animal can have its problems, so please listen to our advice, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

The following is important when considering adoption:

  • The cat /s or kitten/s must be for YOU and NOT for any other person
  • All potential owners must be 'homechecked' to ensure you and the cat you have chosen are suitable for each other
  • We have a minimum donation policy for each of our cats. If you cannot afford a donation then you must question your ability to care for your cat properly. The donation we ask for is minimal compared to the cost of good quality food and routine veterinary care so if you cannot afford it we would rather you did not have a pet
  • Without your donation we cannot continue to help the thousands of animals abused, unloved and unwanted every year. This centre is run almost entirely by volunteers and we rely on the generosity of our supporters. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN!
  • You must be able to afford private vet bills and not use other charities such as The PDSA
  • As the neutering of cats is such a large part of reducing the numbers of unwanted animals please note that we WILL NOT REHOME AN ANIMAL IF YOU HAVE A CAT OVER 6 MONTHS OLD THAT HAS NOT BEEN NEUTERED
  • All cats/kittens will have had a minimum of their first vaccination and will have been routinely treated for fleas and worms

Costs involved:

  • We ask for a minimum donation of £35 per cat. This rarely covers the costs involved in rescuing a cat so any further donation you can make is greatly appreciated
  • All our cats are microchipped before leaving the centre. This is to ensure their future safety and for our peace of mind. If you wish for the microchip to be registered to you (as the new owner) we ask that you pay £10 per cat
  • Any kitten under 6 months of age will not have been neutered. To ensure your kitten is neutered at 6 months of age we ask that you pay upfront the cost of their neutering. This is £40 for a male and £50 for a female. Neutering should then be carried out by our vet, Paul Jarman Veteriunary Surgery in Attleborough, and we will be charged. If you wish for the neutering to be carried out elsewhere please discuss this at the time of adoption.
